social emotional learning

At Gisborne Primary School we have highly effective wellbeing and intervention programs across the school. We believe that when students are comfortable and happy in their environment, they learn more effectively and build confidence.

Every class has weekly Social and Emotional (SEL) lessons to support students with building resilience, persistence and to manage their emotions. We encourage high aspirations and for students to be responsible for their learning and behaviours. Gisborne Primary School implements a variety of approaches to support students in this area.

  • School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)
  • Calmer Classrooms
  • Kimochis (Year F-2)
  • Open Parachute (Years 3-6)
  • School Values
  • Respectful Relationships
  • Bully Stoppers

In addition to the SEL lessons in the classroom, we operate small groups sessions with our Education Support Staff for students who require additional assistance in this area.
